Four Roses Does Kentucky Derby
blog | 04/12/2019
Kentucky Derby season is officially underway and we are less than one month away from the 145th running of The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports in Louisville, Ky. Nothing goes with the Kentucky Derby quite like Bourbon, and if you’re a Kentuckian, or are able to visit this Derby season, you’ll have a few opportunities to mingle with us.
Check out our schedule below.
BourbonVille
The Louisville Palace
Thursday, April 18, 2019
Mix, mingle and enjoy specialty Bourbon cocktails at the newest Kentucky Derby Festival event, BourbonVille. Taste signature drinks from Kentucky’s Bourbon distilleries, enjoy Bourbon-inspired cuisine and meet the Master Distillers, including our very own Brent Elliott.
Fest-a-Ville
Thursday, April 25 – Friday, May 3, 2018
Waterfront Park, Louisville, KY
Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront starts Thursday, April 25 and runs through Kentucky Oaks, Friday May 3, where several Festival events, including the awards presentation for the Great Steamboat Race, will be held. From the opening day ribbon-cutting to Kentucky Oaks, Fest-a-Ville will be the downtown Louisville destination during the Kentucky Derby Festival and promises to have something for everyone, including Bourbon.
Four Roses will be the only Bourbon on-site and we’ve partnered with Drake’s, a neighborhood restaurant & bar, to serve a specialty Four Roses cocktail called the Thunder Punch to event attendees.
The Great Steamboat Race
Wednesday, May 1
Belle of Louisville & Belle of Cincinnati, Louisville, KY
Four Roses is again sponsoring The Great Steamboat Race for the 14th year in a row. This unique event pits the historic Belle of Louisville against the Belle of Cincinnati in a race down the Ohio river.
On-board, guests are treated to food, entertainment and, of course, Bourbon. Representatives from the Kentucky Derby Festival, the Belle of Louisville and the Belle of Cincinnati selected two different Single Barrel Bourbons to be served aboard each vessel for the event. The Four Roses barrel coded 29-3 H was selected as the Bourbon to represent the Belle of Louisville, and the barrel coded 29-2 N was selected to represent the Belle of Cincinnati, in the 2019 Great Steamboat Race.
“I’m looking forward to sharing both of these Bourbons with guests at the Great Steamboat Race,” said Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott. “Both are Single Barrel Bourbons from our OBSV recipe, so those tasting them can expect a robust, full-bodied flavor, with a smooth, long finish.”
Passengers on-board both boats will have the opportunity to sample the two Bourbons.
